Skagit Public Utility District
Home MenuCheck Water Availability and Request a New Meter
Skagit PUD is committed to providing safe, reliable drinking water to all county residents who need a potable water supply. Water service to undeveloped lots or parcels will only be provided after we receive written notice or a building permit from the local jurisdiction confirming the parcel is consistent with its land-use plan.
Water Service Availability
Any new construction, remodel, addition, revised plumbing, land division, or change of use on a property served by Skagit PUD will require a water service evaluation to ensure compliance with current PUD water policies.
To begin that evaluation, submit the following to our Engineering Department:
- Project proposal description
- County Parcel Number
- Site plan
- Water usage demands
- Fire protection requirements
The customer or developer is responsible for the cost of any water system improvements needed to serve the project. Water service can only be provided where water lines with sufficient supply are available and the service location is contiguous to an existing water main, unless otherwise allowed under PUD line extension requirements.
Project Plan Submittals
Once water service availability is confirmed, submit a complete set of civil, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and irrigation plans to the Engineering Department for review and cost estimating.
Coordinate Early
We encourage you to contact Skagit PUD and the appropriate city, county, or state jurisdictions early in your project design process. Determining feasibility upfront — before plans are finalized — can save time and money. Permit and approval timelines can be lengthy, so early coordination is key.
